Ms. Gilda C. Fosana
Still Sexy @ 60

“A spirited mind never stops within itself;
it is always aspiring and going beyond its strength.”

Ma’am Gilda C. Fosana, NNSF Greatest Common Factor. I had the impression of an empowered woman who never lost her vigor for life. I’ve known her better through the years and therefore have a deeper appreciation of her…

FULLNESS OF A WOMAN

A spirited mind, she’s a woman who has that! Not because of her 60 years lengthy list of accomplishments but because she is someone, who enjoys life with flair. More than her professional achievements, she’s a mother. And that speaks volume. To be able to balance a career and family life, to have raised children who all graduated from college is something! But to have raised intensely competitive children is a totally different thing…it’s a blessing!! That speaks of the parents’ dedication to their “job”, that speaks of the woman they call mom. And that can already put a period to this post.

But I also would like to focus on the things I remember about her being my mentor because they are great things to ponder on…

“SHOW ME WHAT YOU’VE GOT!”

Her greatest teachings: “glow gladly & graciously!” I remember how Ma’am Gilda C. Fosana motivated me & became positive influence in my attitude as a student. Her task as a teacher is not just to bring out the best in her student but to elicit it, for she believes the best is there already & she knows that each one of us has the potential to come into its full bloom.

I am, being so shy & reserved freshmen then. Although I excelled in academic but sad to say, I failed myself in extra-curricular activities. I’m such a loser during my 1st year in high school simply because I’ve no guts! Ma’am Fosana is my great motivator. A driving force that encouraged me to step out of my self-made shell of isolation & mingle fabulously with the crowd.

Hambae ni ma’am, “Christy, kanugon ka kun mag huya-huya ka. Indi magpapirdi kanda.” I want to see a better, brighter, bolder Christy Navarra.” Go! Go! Transform to the highest level! Umpisa kato, alafar ng bonggang-bongga sa mga school activities…pumapagaspas! I really enjoyed it all & I had the most fun! Ma’am Fosana is always there smiling & supporting all the way. That I should say, I overcame shyness & finished my 4-years in High School with flying colors…

Until then, those powerful words from ma’am Fosana struck me most & carried me for the rest of my days. I will never learn to forget you ma’am forevermore…
